IRCC Interregional Coordinating Council Transportation and Distribution Committee The Interregional Coordinating Council (IRCC) was formed in 1991 to coordinate programs of the three regional crop protection associations -- the Southern Crop Production Association, Mid America CropLife Association, and Western Plant Health Association -- with CropLifeAmerica. The Transportation & Distribution (T&D) Committee was formed by the IRCC Executive Board to follow transportation issues in the crop protection industry. This committee has representatives from major crop protection manufacturers and distributors. Membership is open to all CLA and regional association member companies. One of the primary objectives of the T&D Committee is to interpret, summarize, and communicate the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Hazardous Materials Regulations to the crop protection industry. The T & D Committee reviews DOT and International Regulations, comments on proposed rules, prepares training materials, and issues informational bulletins summarizing regulatory compliance requirements. The T&D Committee has published several editions of the "Hazardous Materials Shipping Guide", a booklet summarizing the DOT Regulations. These are updated as regulations change. They also publish the Hazardous Materials Shipping Descriptions which is updated annually and have produced a training video to accompany the two books including test and answers for training purposes. The Transportation & Distribution Committee Presents the Hazardous Materials Shipping Descriptions Update as of January 2, 2007NOTICE These descriptions, which have been compiled and published by CDMS, Inc. and SCPA, are intended to be used as a guide to provide an overview of the shipping descriptions for hazardous materials. It does not include descriptions for ag materials that are not regulated as hazardous by the Department of Transportation. It should be used in conjunction with the Hazardous Materials Shipping Guide, prepared by the Interregional Coordinating Council’s (IRCC’s) Transportation and Distribution Committee.Every effort has been made to be accurate and clear. However, those responsible for complying with provisions of 49CFR and other applicable laws and regulations should be advised that SCPA and CDMS, Inc. the authors, accept no legal responsibility for statements or errors which might be listed. To ensure compliance, SCPA further advises those responsible for compliance to read and follow the official publications of applicable laws and regulations dealing with transportation of hazardous materials and hazardous wastes, as well as information from suppliers of the products. If you feel a product is not listed that should be, please contact the producer directly for proper shipping descriptions. All formulations of a single product are not included.
